Free Entry Level 3 English Skills course in Pickering. Evening classes run at Atmosphere Centre for Young People, so you can fit study around your week. The course builds your reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills without a formal exam. It runs for around 55 hours part-time. You'll need to be 19 or over and not currently hold an Entry Level 3 or higher English qualification. You'll have an initial assessment at enrolment to confirm the level is right for you.

This course is for people who want to improve their English skills gain a qualification in English without having to take an exam.You must not have a current Entry 3 level or higher qualification.
Entry requirements
To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment
What you will learn
You'll read and understand everyday texts, including letters, forms, and short articles.
You'll write clearly for common purposes such as messages, notes, and short documents.
You'll spell and punctuate accurately at Entry Level 3.
You'll speak clearly and listen carefully in everyday conversations and discussions.
You'll follow and give simple instructions and information.
You'll identify the main points in spoken and written material.
How you will learn
Classes are classroom based and run in the evenings. Learning is assessed through portfolio evidence and practical tasks rather than a formal exam. You'll complete activities in class that show your reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. Your tutor will guide you through each area and track your progress as you go.

The centre will provide most materials. Atmosphere Centre for Young People will confirm anything else you need before you start.
