Free Entry Level 2 Functional Skills Maths in Pickering. Classes run at Atmosphere Centre for Young People, part-time during the day, over 18 weeks. This entry level functional skills maths course covers the practical maths skills used in everyday life and work. You'll have an initial assessment to confirm Entry Level 2 is the right starting point, and the centre will use it to plan your learning. This free functional skills maths course for adults is a step toward Entry Level 3 and, further on, the Level 2 qualification that employers recognise as a GCSE maths alternative.

This course is for people who want to improve their Maths skills and who currently, do not hold a current Entry Level 2 or higher qualification

To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact
What you will learn
You'll work with whole numbers, including counting, ordering, and simple calculations.
You'll add and subtract two-digit numbers in practical contexts.
You'll recognise and use simple fractions and understand basic percentages.
You'll handle money, including giving change and working out simple totals.
You'll read and use straightforward timetables, charts, and tables.
You'll measure length, weight, capacity, and time using common units.
You'll understand basic shapes and simple spatial reasoning.
How you will learn
You'll learn in a classroom at Atmosphere Centre for Young People, with a tutor guiding each session. Assessment is through a written test set and marked by City and Guilds. You'll work through tasks and practice questions during class to build toward the test. Your tutor will track your progress and let you know when you're ready to sit the assessment.
