About this course

Free Entry Level 2 Functional Skills Maths in Malton. Evening classes run at Malton Adult Learning and Skills Service, so you can fit study around work or other commitments. Entry requirements

To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact

What you will learn

  • You'll work with whole numbers, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • You'll use simple fractions and recognise common fractions in everyday contexts.
  • You'll handle money, including calculating costs and giving change.
  • You'll read and use simple measurements, such as length, weight, and capacity.
  • You'll tell the time and work with dates and simple timetables.
  • You'll read and interpret simple charts, tables, and diagrams.
  • You'll solve straightforward maths problems in everyday situations.

How you will learn

You'll learn in a classroom at Malton Adult Learning and Skills Service during evening sessions. Teaching covers practical, everyday maths in a small-group setting. Assessment is by a written test set by City and Guilds. You'll need to pass the test to earn your Entry Level 2 Functional Skills Maths certificate. Your tutor will prepare you for the test throughout the course.
