This course is for people who want to improve their Maths skills and gain a qualification in Maths without having to take an exam.You must not have a current level 1 or higher qualification.

Entry requirements

To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at

What you will learn

  • You'll work with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • You'll use measurements and understand units of measure.
  • You'll interpret and present data using charts, tables, and graphs.
  • You'll solve practical maths problems in everyday contexts.
  • You'll apply basic geometry, including shapes, space, and scale.

You'll learn through classroom sessions at Atmosphere Centre for Young People. Assessment is portfolio-based rather than exam-based, so you build evidence of your skills as you go. Your tutor will guide you through tasks and activities during evening classes, and your progress is assessed through the work you produce throughout the course.
