Free Entry Level 2 Functional Skills Maths Course in Saltburn-By-The-Sea. Classes run at Redcar & Cleveland Adult Learning at Temperance Square, Loftus.

The course runs part-time during the day over 20 weeks. You'll cover number skills, basic calculations, fractions, decimals, and using maths in everyday situations. There are no entry requirements. You'll complete a short initial assessment before you start, so you join the right level.

You'll finish with a Functional Skills Qualification in Mathematics at Entry Level 2.

If you would like to develop your maths skills for further learning or employment, gain a nationally recognised qualification (up to Level 2), or wish to develop your confidence using maths in everyday situations, this is the right course for you!

Entry requirements

There are no entry requirements, but we ask all learners to complete a short initial and diagnostic assessment before the course starts so we can enrol you on the right level.

What you will learn

  • You'll work with whole numbers, including counting, ordering, and place value.
  • You'll add, subtract, multiply, and divide using simple methods.
  • You'll understand basic fractions and recognise common decimals.
  • You'll read and interpret simple charts, tables, and data.
  • You'll use maths to handle money, time, and measurements in everyday life.
  • You'll build the number skills needed for further learning or work.

How you will learn

You'll learn in a classroom with a tutor. Sessions are part-time and run during the day. You'll work through activities and practice tasks that apply maths to real situations. Assessment is through a written test set by City and Guilds. You'll sit the test when your tutor confirms you're ready.

The centre will provide most materials. Redcar & Cleveland Adult Learning at Temperance Square, Loftus will confirm anything else you need before you start.
