Free Entry Level 3 Functional Skills Maths Course in Saltburn-By-The-Sea. Classes run at Redcar & Cleveland Adult Learning at Temperance Square, Loftus, part-time during the day.

The course runs over 20 weeks. You'll work on numbers, fractions, percentages, measurement, and handling data. These are the everyday maths skills that employers and further education courses expect. There are no entry requirements. You'll complete a short assessment before you start so you join at the right level.

You'll finish with a Functional Skills Qualification in Mathematics at Entry Level 3.

If you would like to develop your maths skills for further learning or employment, gain a nationally recognised qualification (up to Level 2), or wish to develop your confidence using maths in everyday situations, this is the right course for you!

Entry requirements

There are no entry requirements, but we ask all learners to complete a short initial and diagnostic assessment before the course starts so we can enrol you on the right level.

What you will learn

  • You'll work with whole numbers, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • You'll use fractions and percentages in everyday contexts.
  • You'll read and interpret simple charts, tables, and graphs.
  • You'll measure length, weight, capacity, and time.
  • You'll handle money and work out costs.
  • You'll solve straightforward maths problems in real situations.

How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom sessions with a tutor. The course uses practical activities and worked examples to build your skills step by step. Assessment is through a written exam set by City and Guilds. Your tutor will prepare you for this throughout the course.
