Free Entry Level 2 Functional Skills Maths Course in Redcar. Classes run at Redcar and Cleveland College, part-time during the day.

The course runs over 20 weeks and covers the maths you use in everyday life. You'll work with numbers, money, measurements, and simple data. Topics build steadily so you can grow your skills at a manageable pace. There are no entry requirements. You'll complete a short assessment before you start so the college can place you at the right level.

You'll finish with a City and Guilds Functional Skills Qualification in Mathematics at Entry Level 2.

Entry requirements

There are no entry requirements, but we ask all learners to complete a short initial and diagnostic assessment before the course starts so we can enrol you on the right level.

What you will learn

  • You'll work with whole numbers, including counting, ordering, and simple calculations.
  • You'll add, subtract, multiply, and divide using everyday contexts.
  • You'll handle money, including working out costs and giving change.
  • You'll read and use simple measurements for length, weight, and time.
  • You'll interpret basic charts, tables, and graphs.
  • You'll solve straightforward maths problems from daily life and work.

How you will learn

You'll learn in a classroom at Redcar and Cleveland College with a tutor. Sessions are part-time and run during the day. Assessment is through a written test set by City and Guilds. Your tutor will support you throughout and help you prepare for the assessment.
