About this course

Level 4 IQA Course. Study online, at your own pace, from anywhere in the UK or overseas. This level 4 IQA qualification is part of the TAQA framework and covers the knowledge and understanding behind internal quality assurance of assessment. You study online with tutor support, fitting the course around your work and other commitments. The course typically takes three to six months. You'll need to be working in a learning or assessment role, and occupational competence in your subject area is expected. City and Guilds registration and exam fees of £42 apply.

Who this course is for

This qualification is part of the training, assessment and quality assurance (TAQA) suite of courses. It is ideal if you are starting your journey as an internal quality assurance practitioner or if you need to know about internal quality assurance but are not carrying out quality assurance yourself.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements but a basic competency in English and maths will be necessary and it is expected that all assessors and quality assurance individuals have occupational competence in the areas that they are assessing in.

You will also need to be working in an accredited, or non-accredited learning role.

What you will learn

  • You'll understand the principles and concepts of internal quality assurance in assessment contexts.
  • You'll learn how to plan and monitor the quality of assessment within an organisation.
  • You'll explore the roles and responsibilities of an internal quality assurer.
  • You'll understand how to evaluate the quality and consistency of assessment decisions.
  • You'll learn how to support and develop assessors through feedback and standardisation.
  • You'll understand the regulatory and organisational requirements that underpin quality assurance practice.

How you will learn

You study online with tutor support throughout. Before you start, you'll have a pre-course discussion with a tutor to confirm the right pathway for you. Assessment is through written assignments and reflective tasks that you complete in your own time. Your tutor will give feedback on your work to help you meet the assessment criteria.

What you will need to bring

The centre will provide most materials. The College of Animal Welfare will confirm anything else you need before you start.
