About this course

Level 2 Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering. Work-based training at your workplace.

You learn while you work, building competence in your engineering role over 12 months. The course suits a wide range of occupations, including CNC machining, manual machining, production assembly, and composite manufacturing. You choose a pathway that matches your job role. No prior qualifications are required, as long as your role supports the qualification's assessment requirements.

You'll finish with an NVQ Diploma in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering.

Who this course is for

Candidates wishing to demonstrate competence in their mechanical manufacturing occupation. The qualification is applicable to a wide variety of engineering machinists (both CNC and manual), production assembly, or composite manufacturing occupations within the sector, dependent on the pathway chosen.

Entry requirements

The candidate must be in a role within the workplace that will support the qualification requirements and must have the potential to achieve the assessment criteria set out in the units.

There are no entry qualifications required by learners to undertake this qualification unless this is a legal requirement of the process or the environment

What you will learn

  • You'll demonstrate competence in your specific mechanical manufacturing occupation.
  • You'll develop skills in CNC or manual machining techniques relevant to your role.
  • You'll apply safe working practices in a manufacturing environment.
  • You'll understand and follow engineering processes and quality standards.
  • You'll meet the assessment criteria set out in your chosen pathway's units.

How you will learn

You learn entirely in your workplace. An assessor makes regular visits to observe you carrying out your job role and to review evidence of your competence. You build a portfolio of evidence drawn from your day-to-day work. Assessment is practical and ongoing, matched to the units in your chosen pathway.

What you will need to bring

The centre will provide most materials. NSEG Training Academy will confirm anything else you need before you start.
