About this course

Level 2 Formwork (Construction) Course. Work-based training at your workplace. You train while you work, building skills directly in your job role over around 3 months. The course covers the practical and technical knowledge formwork operatives need on site, from setting out and erecting formwork systems to safe working practices. Training can be blended with classroom sessions to suit your employer's needs. You must be aged 16 or over to enrol.

This qualification will provide you with occupational competence and knowledge of Formwork and/or ‘licence to practice’ as well as evidence to apply for your Blue – Skilled Construction Skills Certification Schemes (CSCS) card.

You must be aged 16 or over

  • You'll interpret construction drawings and specifications relevant to formwork.
  • You'll apply health and safety requirements on construction sites.
  • You'll select and use the right materials, tools, and equipment for formwork tasks.
  • You'll work to tolerances and quality standards required for concrete structures.
  • You'll communicate and work effectively within a construction team.

How you will learn

This is a work-based NVQ, so assessment takes place in your actual job role. A trained assessor will observe you carrying out formwork tasks on site and review evidence of your work. You'll build a portfolio demonstrating your competence across the qualification's units. Blended classroom sessions are available alongside on-site learning to support your knowledge development.

The centre will provide most materials. Canary Wharf Learning Centre will confirm anything else you need before you start.
