About this course

Free Level 2 Sport Course in Burton-on-Trent. Classes run full-time at Burton Town Centre Campus, one day a week using the campus gym at Fleet Street Fitness and practical sessions on a 3G pitch. You'll study anatomy and physiology, nutrition, fitness and exercise, plus practical sport and sports coaching. As part of the programme, you'll represent the college in the EFL Trust National League. Entry requires a minimum of four GCSEs at grade 3 or equivalent, and a successful trial with Burton Albion Community Trust. The course takes one year.

Who this course is for

You will gain significant knowledge in a number of subjects including nutrition, fitness testing, sports coaching, event development, psychology, health & safety and practical sports. Throughout the course, you will organise a number of learner-lead events, which will develop your teamwork, initiative skills and support you in instructing sports and fitness sessions for a broad range of users.

Entry requirements

Minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade D or above (if this does not include English and maths these MUST be studied as part of the Level 2 programme) or Level 1 Functional Skills equivalent in English and maths; successful interview and initial assessment; successful completion of Level 1 programme (progressing learners).

You'll attend daytime sessions at Burton Town Centre Campus, with weekly use of the gym at Fleet Street Fitness for delivery, assessment, and personal fitness. Real-life environment assessments are a feature of the qualification. You'll also take part in enrichment activities, trips, and visits, and gain experience working with community partners.
