Free BTEC Level 3 Sport Course in Burton-on-Trent. Classes run at Burton Town Centre Campus, full-time over two years.

The course covers a broad range of sport and exercise topics. You'll study coaching, fitness, and sport science. In year two, you can choose a pathway focused on coaching and exercise science or on the fitness industry. You'll also have access to gym facilities and gain work experience through community partners. The course builds UCAS points if you plan to go on to university.

You'll finish with a Pearson Edexcel BTEC National Foundation Diploma in Sport.

Who this course is for

This is a two year study programme which is equivalent to 3 A Levels, however a one year option is also available which is equivalent to 1.5 A Levels. Both programme years will accrue UCAS points should your chosen progression route be a UK university. It will help you to develop an understanding of a broad range of sport and exercise topics. During the course, you will have opportunities to complete a number of sports coaching qualifications, go on visits to St. George’s Park and gain work experience through our community partners. After successful progression onto the second year of the programme, you can choose a specific pathway tailored to your career goals.

Entry requirements

Applicants will be expected to have a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 4 including either English or maths (or) A level 2 subject specific qualification including a level 2 or equivalent in either English or maths (or) An equivalent occupational experience including a level 2 or equivalent in either English or maths

How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom sessions and practical, real-life environment assessments. The gym at Fleet Street Fitness is used weekly for delivery and assessment. You'll also take part in visits, trips, and enrichment activities, including a visit to St. George's Park. Assessment is built into the course throughout, rather than relying on a single final exam.
