About this course
Free Entry Level English Skills - Writing Course in Birmingham. Classes run full-time during the day at Queen Alexandra College. This course is designed for students with disabilities and learning difficulties, and runs as part of a wider study programme that includes therapies and specialist support. You'll develop your written English skills over 12 months, building the foundations you need for everyday communication and further learning. Entry is through an Education, Health and Care Plan with Local Authority referral, or you can apply directly to the college for an initial assessment.

High Needs Students with EHC Plan and referral through Local Authority OR apply directly to College to apply for initial assessment. This will form part of a wider study programme which will include therapies and specialist support for LLDD
What you will learn
You'll practise writing clearly for different purposes and audiences.
You'll develop your spelling of common and everyday words.
You'll learn to use basic punctuation correctly, including full stops and capital letters.
You'll structure sentences and short texts in a logical order.
You'll build your ability to communicate ideas in writing.
You'll gain confidence in completing everyday written tasks such as forms and messages.
How you will learn
You'll learn in a classroom at Queen Alexandra College, with specialist support tailored to your needs. Your programme will include therapies alongside your English writing classes. Assessment is through written tasks and coursework that show what you can do. Your progress will be reviewed as part of your wider study programme, and support is built in throughout.
