About this course
Free Entry Level 2 English Reading Skills Course in Birmingham. Classes run full-time during the day at Queen Alexandra College. This course is designed for students with disabilities and learning difficulties, and runs as part of a wider study programme that includes therapies and specialist support. You'll work on reading skills over 12 months, building toward a City and Guilds qualification. A referral through your Local Authority or an Education, Health and Care Plan is required to enrol, or you can apply directly to the college for an initial assessment.

High Needs Students with EHC Plan and referral through Local Authority OR apply directly to College to apply for initial assessment. This will form part of a wider study programme which will include therapies and specialist support for LLDD
What you will learn
You'll develop your ability to read and understand everyday texts.
You'll practise reading signs, labels, and simple written information.
You'll learn to identify the main point in short written passages.
You'll build skills in reading for meaning and purpose.
You'll work on understanding words and phrases in context.
How you will learn
You'll learn through classroom-based sessions during the day. Learning is supported by specialist staff and therapies as part of a wider programme for learners with disabilities and learning difficulties. Assessment is through tasks and activities that show your reading skills at Entry Level 2. Your progress will be reviewed as part of your overall study programme.
