About this course

Level 3 BTEC National Foundation Diploma in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Course in Leicester. Classes run at Leicester College St. Margaret's Campus, full-time during the day. You'll need five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and maths, plus one academic reference. The course takes one year and covers marketing, personal and business finance, and running a business. Weekly sessions bring you into contact with business people to hear about their entrepreneurial journeys. The Pearson Edexcel BTEC National Foundation Diploma in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship is equivalent to 1.5 A-levels and can lead to the Extended Diploma.

Who this course is for

Enterprise and entrepreneurship is a major part of the drive to increase the employability of young people in the UK and globally. This course is designed to introduce you to essential business skills useful for all types of employment and everyday life including; marketing, running a business and managing personal finances.

Weekly enterprise sessions give you the chance to meet business people and expand your networks and hear about their entrepreneurial journeys.

If you are aged 16 to 18, you will be enrolled on a study programme. This will include retaking GCSEs or undertaking Functional Skills in English and maths if you haven't already achieved a grade 4 or above. You will take part in activities that help you to develop your personal skills, such as building your character and confidence. This will help you to live well and move into your chosen career.

If you are 16-19 years old these activities will be timetabled as will work experience and placement. You can also choose to take part in other activities. For other age groups, activities will be tailored to your needs.

Entry requirements

You will need 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above which should include English and maths. You will also need to provide one academic reference from your most recent place of education.

The qualification is aimed at post-16 students wanting to continue their education through applied learning and who aim to progress to higher education, and ultimately to employment in the enterprise sector. It is equivalent to 1.5 A-levels and, upon completion, students can progress onto the Extended Diploma.

Work experience and personal development activities are timetabled for 16 to 19 year olds as part of the study programme.
