About this course

Level 2 Business and Law Course in Leicester. Classes run at Leicester College St. Margaret's Campus, full-time during the day. The course runs for one year and covers the English legal system, employment law, business finance, human resources, property offences, and general defences. You'll also complete work experience and enrichment activities, including visits to Leicester Crown and Magistrate Courts. Entry requires four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English and maths. You'll finish with the AIM Extended Certificate in Business and Law.

Who this course is for

This course is the starting point if you are looking to pursue a career in law but do not have the entry requirements to do a level 3 in law and business.

Designed to give you a good understanding of the law and business environment, the course will cover topics ranging from English Legal Systems and Employment Law to Business Finance. This course will give you the initial groundwork to enable you to progress onto level 3 or into employment/apprenticeship.

You will take part in activities that help you to develop your personal skills, such as building your character and confidence. This will help you to live well and move into your chosen career.

If you are 16-19 years old these activities will be timetabled as will work experience and placement. You can also choose to take part in other activities.

Entry requirements

The course requires you to have 4 GCSEs including both English and maths at grade 3 (D) or above, a 90% attendance rate from your last place of work or study is desirable and one reference from your last place of study or work.

How you will learn

Learning takes place in the classroom at Leicester College St. Margaret's Campus, with sessions running from 9am to 5pm. You'll study through a mix of classroom-based lessons and work experience or placement. Units are assessed through coursework and activities linked to each topic. If you're aged 16 to 19, enrichment activities and work experience are timetabled as part of your programme.

The centre will provide most materials. Leicester College St. Margaret's Campus will confirm anything else you need before you start. Note that a material fee of £40 and a residential fee of £80 may apply alongside the course fees.
