About this course

BTEC National Foundation Diploma in Business in Leicester. Classes run at Leicester College St. Margaret's Campus, full-time over one year.

The course covers both business and law. You'll study Exploring Business, Personal and Business Finance, Developing a Marketing Campaign, and Managing an Event. Two law units cover the English legal system and employment law. Recent students have worked on live projects with local employers. You'll need five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and maths, to join.

You'll finish with a Pearson Edexcel Level 3 National Foundation Diploma.

Who this course is for

Do you aspire to work within either the Business or Law industries? If so, our exciting new study programme in business and law will allow you to broaden your knowledge and skills across two related subjects. Not only will you be studying the core elements necessary to succeed in business but you will also incorporate two law units giving you a flavour of what it could be like working in the law industry.

The purpose of this course is to allow students to have the opportunity of different progression routes allowing flexibility when applying for jobs or going on to higher education. This is a one-year study programme (six units equivalent to one and a half A levels) with an option upon successful completion of the course to progress onto the National Extended Diploma or our T level programme.

You will participate in activities that help you develop your personal skills, such as building your character and confidence. This will help you to live well and move into your chosen career.

If you are 16-19 years old these activities will be timetabled as will work experience and placement. You can also choose to take part in other activities.

Entry requirements

Entry onto this course requires five GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above including English and maths, 90% attendance in your last place of study or work and a reference.

How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom sessions at St. Margaret's Campus, running from 9am to 5pm. Assessment is through a mix of assignments, projects, and coursework across six units. Some units may include external assessments set by Pearson Edexcel. You'll also take part in work experience and employer projects as part of the programme.
