About this course

Level 3 BTEC National Extended Certificate in Business Course in Leicester. Classes run full-time at Leicester College St. Margaret's Campus, Monday to Friday during the day.

The Pearson Edexcel BTEC covers business, finance, and marketing. Units include Exploring Business, Personal and Business Finance, and Developing a Marketing Campaign. You also study one law unit, giving you a taste of the legal sector. Recent students have worked on live projects with local employers. The course takes one year to complete.

You'll finish with a Pearson Edexcel BTEC National Extended Certificate in Business.

Who this course is for

Do you aspire to work within either the Business or Law industries? If so, our exciting new study programme in business and law will allow you to broaden your knowledge and skills across two related subjects. Not only will you be studying the core units necessary to succeed in business but you will also incorporate one law unit giving you a flavour of what it could be like working in the law industry.

The purpose of this course is to allow students to have the opportunity of different progression routes allowing flexibility when applying for jobs or going on to higher education. This is a one-year study programme (four units equivalent to one A level) with an option upon successful completion of the course to progress onto the National Diploma or our T level programme.

You will participate in activities that help you develop your personal skills, such as building your character and confidence. This will help you to live well and move into your chosen career. If you are 16-19 years old these activities will be timetabled as will work experience and placement. You can also choose to take part in other activities.

Entry requirements

Entry onto this course requires five GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above and you can retake either English and / or maths, 90% attendance in your last place of study or work and a reference

How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom sessions, group work, and employer projects. Assessment is a mix of coursework assignments and externally set exams, depending on the unit. Some units are assessed through portfolios of evidence. Others are assessed by Pearson Edexcel through timed examinations.
