The course covers why challenging behaviour occurs and how to respond to it appropriately. You'll explore how conditions such as autism, learning disabilities, and mental health affect behaviour. Units also cover how to assess behaviour, record incidents, and apply UK legislation when supporting someone displaying challenging behaviour. The course takes around 12 weeks to complete.

You'll finish with a Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Behaviour that Challenges.

Who this course is for

This online short course will enable you to gain a general awareness of the causes of distressed behaviour, along with an understanding of appropriate ways to support a child displaying distressed behaviour.

Furthermore, you will consider how other characteristics such as mental health, learning disabilities and sensory processing or autism conditions can play a role in distressed behaviour being displayed by a child. Finally, you will gain an understanding of how current UK legislation underpins approaches to providing support for a child who displays distressed behaviour.

There are no formal entry requirements but you must be aged 19+.
