About this course

Level 2 Prevention and Control of Infection in Health and Social Care Settings Course. Study online at your own pace. Funding may be available for this course, though fees may apply depending on your circumstances. You'll learn how infections are caused and spread, how personal hygiene and protective equipment reduce risk, and how to manage decontamination and waste safely. The course takes around 12 weeks and covers both workplace and home settings. You'll complete an initial assessment before enrolling to confirm this is the right level for you.

Who this course is for

An understanding of how to effectively prevent and control the spread of infection is crucial in ensuring that individuals do not unknowingly cause their family, friends, colleagues and any other people that they come into contact with to become unwell.

By completing this course, you will be equipped with a greater understanding of how to prevent and control the spread of infection, both in the workplace and in the home. You will also gain knowledge of how to identify infections, as well as the different types of infection.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements but you must be aged 19+.

Please note: All students will need to complete an Initial Assessment before being enrolled onto the course.

You study online and work through three units covering infection causes, personal hygiene, and decontamination. Learning is self-paced, so you can fit it around your commitments. Assessment is based on the unit content you complete online. You'll have an initial assessment before you start to make sure the course is the right level for you.
