Free Functional Skills English Level 1 Course in Worksop. Classes run at Worksop Library on Tuesday mornings, part-time over 22 weeks.

You'll work on reading, writing, and speaking and listening. An initial assessment at the start helps place you at the right level, from Entry Level 3 up to Level 2. The course covers all three elements and builds your skills at a manageable pace.

You'll finish with a City and Guilds Functional Skills Qualification in English.

What you will learn

  • You'll read and understand different types of texts, including everyday documents and longer passages.
  • You'll write clearly for different purposes, such as letters, emails, and short reports.
  • You'll use correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar in your writing.
  • You'll speak clearly and listen actively in discussions and conversations.
  • You'll identify the main points and purpose of spoken and written material.
  • You'll plan and organise your writing to suit the audience and purpose.

How you will learn

You'll learn in a small group of 5 to 15 students in a classroom at Worksop Library. Your tutor will guide sessions covering reading, writing, and speaking and listening. Near the end of the course, you'll be assessed on all three elements. Assessment is set by City and Guilds and covers each skill area separately. All resources are provided by your tutor.

All resources are supplied by your tutor. You may find it useful to bring your own notebook, but it is not required.
