Free Entry Level 3 Functional Skills English in Northallerton. Classes run at Skipton Adult Learning & Skills Service, with daytime sessions that fit around other commitments. Over 18 weeks part-time, you'll build your reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills in a classroom setting. This entry level functional skills english course is open to adults who don't yet hold an Entry Level 3 or higher English qualification. What you will learn
You'll read and understand everyday texts such as letters, forms, and notices.
You'll write clearly for practical purposes, including messages, notes, and short documents.
You'll spell and punctuate common words correctly in your writing.
You'll listen and respond to spoken information in everyday situations.
You'll speak clearly and take part in simple discussions and conversations.
You'll identify the main points and purposes in texts you read.
How you will learn
You'll learn through classroom-based sessions with a tutor. Activities include reading exercises, writing tasks, and speaking and listening practice. Assessment is through tasks set by City and Guilds, covering reading, writing, and speaking and listening. You'll complete these tasks as part of the course rather than in a separate exam sitting.
