Free Entry Level 1 English Course in Northallerton. Evening english classes run at Skipton Adult Learning & Skills Service, so you can fit study around your week. The course covers reading, writing, speaking, and listening at Entry Level 1. It runs over 55 hours part-time and is assessed through portfolio work rather than a formal exam. You must not already hold an Entry Level 1 or higher English qualification, and you must be aged 19 or over.
Who this course is for
This course is for people who want to improve their English skills gain a qualification in English without having to take an exam.You must not have a current Entry 1 level or higher qualification.
Entry requirements
To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment
What you will learn
You'll develop your reading skills at Entry Level 1.
You'll practise writing for everyday purposes such as notes, lists, and short messages.
You'll build your speaking and listening skills in everyday situations.
You'll learn to understand and respond to simple written information.
You'll work toward a recognised entry level english qualification without sitting a formal exam.
How you will learn
You'll learn in a classroom setting during evening sessions. Assessment is portfolio-based, so you gather evidence of your skills over time rather than sitting an exam. Your tutor will support you through each task and help you build your portfolio as the course progresses.
