About this course

Free Entry Level 1 English Course in Northallerton. Classes run at Skipton Adult Learning & Skills Service, part-time during the day. The course runs over 55 hours, so you can fit study around other commitments. You'll build reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills at Entry Level 1. There's no exam; you're assessed through coursework instead. To join, you must not already hold an Entry Level 1 or higher English qualification. You'll finish with a City and Guilds Certificate in English Skills (Entry Level 1).

This course is for people who want to improve their English skills gain a qualification in English without having to take an exam.You must not have a current Entry 1 level or higher qualification.

Entry requirements

To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment

Classes are classroom based and run part-time during the day. You'll be assessed through coursework and portfolio tasks rather than a formal exam. Your work is collected and assessed throughout the course, so there's no single end-of-course test.
