Free Entry Level 3 Functional Skills English in Northallerton. Evening classes run at Skipton Adult Learning & Skills Service, so you can fit study around work or other commitments. The course runs for 18 weeks part-time. You'll build reading, writing, and communication skills across speaking and listening, reading, and writing. To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact
What you will learn
You'll read and understand straightforward texts on familiar topics.
You'll write clearly for everyday purposes, such as forms, messages, and short documents.
You'll spell, punctuate, and use grammar accurately at Entry Level 3.
You'll listen and respond to spoken information in familiar situations.
You'll speak clearly and communicate information to others.
How you will learn
Classes are classroom based and run in the evening. You'll learn through group activities, written tasks, and discussion. Assessment is through a formal written exam and a speaking and listening assessment, both set by City and Guilds. Your tutor will use an initial assessment at the start to confirm Entry Level 3 is the right level for you and to plan your learning from there.
