Entry requirements

A minimum of 5 GCSEs grades 9-4, including a Grade 4 in GCSE English and a Grade 4 in GCSE Mathematics. Students who have not studied BTEC Art and Design before will be required to submit a portfolio which will be assessed upon entry.

What you will learn

  • You'll develop practical skills across a range of art and design disciplines, including drawing, mixed media, and digital work.
  • You'll build and present a professional portfolio of your creative work.
  • You'll research and analyse the work of artists, designers, and movements to inform your own practice.
  • You'll plan and manage your own creative projects from concept through to completion.
  • You'll explore specialist areas such as fine art, graphic design, photography, or textiles.
  • You'll develop critical thinking skills to evaluate and refine your own work.

How you will learn

Learning is classroom based, with studio sessions where you work on practical projects. Assessment is through a portfolio of coursework and set assignments rather than written exams. You'll build your portfolio throughout the two years, responding to briefs and developing your own creative ideas. Some units may include externally set tasks assessed under timed conditions.

What you will need to bring

The centre will provide most materials. Rosedale College will confirm anything else you need before you start.
