About this course

Level 2 Information, Advice or Guidance Course. Study online, at your own pace, over 10 weeks. You can fit the learning around your work and other commitments without travelling to a centre. The course covers how to give clear, accurate information, advice or guidance, what you can share legally and professionally, and the key rules for effective information sharing. It suits people working in roles where they support others, as well as those looking to move into advisory or guidance work. You'll finish with the NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Information, Advice or Guidance.

Who this course is for

Offering clear and accurate information, advice or guidance and knowing what can be shared legally and professionally can greatly improve outcomes for a business. There are some fundamental rules for successful information sharing and ensuring staff are aware of these is key.

Entry requirements

There are no minimum academic or vocational qualifications required but a good general standard of education is beneficial and would be advantageous. Candidates should have a basic ability to read, write and understand spoken English. If you would like to develop your English functional skills further with us, let us know when you apply.

What you will learn

  • You'll learn the principles of information, advice and guidance and how they differ from one another.
  • You'll understand the legal and ethical boundaries around sharing information.
  • You'll develop skills in listening and communicating clearly with the people you support.
  • You'll learn how to refer people to other services when their needs go beyond your role.
  • You'll understand how to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • You'll explore how to record and report information accurately.

How you will learn

You'll study through online learning resources, working through the course material at your own pace. A tutor supports you throughout. Assessment is through written assignments and activities that you complete and submit online. You do not need to attend a classroom or sit a timed exam.

What you will need to bring

The centre will provide most materials. The Skills Partnership will confirm anything else you need before you start.
