About this course

Level 2 Barbering Course in Poole. Classes run at the Dolphin Centre on Wednesdays, 9:30am to 3pm. The course runs over 34 weeks, giving you time to build your skills at a steady pace. Some prior experience of hairdressing or barbering is required before you join. You'll develop the knowledge and practical skills to advise clients on haircuts and facial hair shaping. The VTCT level 2 barbering qualification is recognised by employers across the sector. Fees apply, though concessions are available.

Who this course is for

We have designed this course to support you with working in the hairdressing/barbering sector. Successful completion of this course will provide skills and knowledge required for job roles in hairdressing/barbering. Some�experience of hairdressing/barbering is required, you may find it useful to have completed a Level 1 course in an Introduction to Barbering or have some experience of the subject.

What you will learn

  • You'll learn how to consult with clients and advise on suitable haircut styles
  • You'll practise a range of men's cutting techniques, including scissor and clipper work
  • You'll develop skills in facial hair shaping and beard trimming
  • You'll learn how to maintain tools and equipment safely and hygienically
  • You'll study health, safety, and salon hygiene practices
  • You'll build knowledge of hair and scalp conditions relevant to barbering

How you will learn

You'll learn through practical, hands-on sessions in a barbering environment, supported by classroom-based teaching. Assessment is through observed practical work and knowledge-based tasks. You'll demonstrate your skills directly to an assessor during the course. Written or portfolio-based evidence may also form part of your assessment.
