This course will enable you to develop basic technical knowledge, understanding and practical garment making, alongside an introduction to garment design skills. The course is divided into three units:
The aim of the course is that you will explore a wide range of techniques that are transferable to a number of sewn projects. This will include techniques needed to make a simple garment, such as seams, hems, control of fullness, machine button holes, pockets, facings and fastenings, research techniques and garment design.
Please be aware that this course is a generic qualification used to deliver this specific subject. However, it is also used to deliver other subjects and for this reason learners who do more than one arts or crafts course at the same level may not be funded or certificated for the subsequent course(s). Cornwall Adult Education will carry out checks for each application and will contact learners if there is a funding issue.
