Free Level 2 Information, Advice or Guidance Course. Study online at your own pace, completing the course in around 12 weeks. This free information, advice or guidance course covers signposting, referrals, record keeping, confidentiality, and communication and listening techniques. You'll study three units that build your understanding of how to give effective guidance to clients across a range of settings. No prior qualifications are needed.
Who this course is for
This qualification is designed for learners who want to develop their knowledge and understanding of information, advice and guidance. It is suitable for those working, or wishing to work, in roles where providing information or guidance is required, including health, social care, education, customer service or support roles.
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. Learners must be aged 16 or over. It may be helpful for learners to have previously achieved a Level 1 qualification, but this is not essential.
What you will learn
You'll learn the differences between information, advice and guidance and when each is appropriate.
You'll understand your boundaries and responsibilities when supporting clients.
You'll develop questioning techniques, active listening, and non-verbal communication skills.
You'll learn how to signpost clients to other services and when to make a formal referral.
You'll understand the importance of confidentiality and impartiality in guidance roles.
You'll learn how to keep accurate records in line with organisational procedures.
You'll explore how values, beliefs and attitudes can affect interactions with clients.
How you will learn
You'll study using paper-based materials alongside online resources. Assessment is a mix of online and paper-based tasks. There are no exams. You work through three units covering guidance in practice, interaction skills, and signposting and referral. On successful completion, TQUK issues an e-certificate.
