About this course

Free Level 2 Hairdressing Course in Hammersmith and Fulham. Classes run at Hammersmith & Fulham College, full-time during the day. You'll develop practical salon skills across cutting, colouring, styling, and client consultation. The course runs for one year. You'll work in a real public-facing salon at the college, gaining hands-on experience with paying clients. Entry requirements

You should have:

Four GCSEs atgrade 4 or above, including English and maths at grade 4 or Functional Skills Level 1 qualifications or A relevant Level 1 course, Functional Skills Level 1 in English and maths or ESOL at Level 1.

At enrolment, you will have an interview with our course tutors to ensure the course is right for you. You may also need to complete an initial assessment in English and maths, depending on your grades. Excellent attendance and punctuality are key element

  • You'll cut and style women's hair using a range of techniques
  • You'll apply colouring and lightening treatments to professional standards
  • You'll carry out shampooing, conditioning, and scalp treatments
  • You'll dress hair for different looks and occasions

  • You'll deliver salon services to members of the public in a working salon environment

How you will learn

You'll learn through hands-on practical work in the college salon, which is open to the public. Tutors will assess your work directly, observing your practical skills in real salon situations. You'll also have an interview at enrolment and may complete an initial assessment in English and maths. An end-of-year show gives you the chance to present your work to industry professionals.
