Free Level 1 Maths Course in Selby. Evening maths classes run at Selby Adult Learning and Skills Service, so you can fit study around work or other commitments. This course builds your maths skills and leads to a qualification without a formal exam. It runs for 55 hours part-time. You'll have an initial assessment to confirm this is the right level for you. The provider notes that you must not already hold a Level 1 or higher maths qualification.

This course is for people who want to improve their Maths skills and gain a qualification in Maths without having to take an exam.You must not have a current level 1 or higher qualification.
Entry requirements
To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at
What you will learn
You'll work with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages
You'll read and interpret data from charts, tables, and graphs
You'll use measurements and apply them to practical problems
You'll solve number problems using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
You'll check and correct your own calculations
You'll apply maths to everyday situations such as money, time, and quantities
How you will learn
Classes are classroom based and run in the evening. You'll work through topics with a tutor and practise skills during sessions. Assessment is through coursework and portfolio evidence rather than a formal exam. This means you're assessed on the work you produce throughout the course, not in a single test.
