To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact

What you will learn

  • You'll work with whole numbers, including counting, ordering, and place value.
  • You'll add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers.
  • You'll recognise and use simple fractions and percentages.
  • You'll handle money, including calculating change and totals.
  • You'll read and interpret simple charts, tables, and graphs.
  • You'll measure length, weight, capacity, and time using common units.
  • You'll solve straightforward maths problems in everyday contexts.

How you will learn

You'll learn in a classroom at Selby Adult Learning and Skills Service, with a tutor guiding each session. Learning is practical and focused on everyday maths situations. Assessment is through a formal test set by City and Guilds. You'll have an initial assessment before you start so the course is matched to the right level for you.
