About this course

Free Entry Level 3 Maths Course in Scarborough. Evening classes run at Scarborough Adult Learning and Skills Service, so you can fit study around work or other commitments. The course builds your maths skills without a formal exam. It runs for 10 weeks part-time. You must be 19 or over and must not already hold an Entry Level 3 or higher maths qualification. You'll have an initial assessment to confirm this is the right level for you.

This course is for people who want to improve their Maths skills and gain a qualification in Maths without having to take an exam.You must not have a current Entry 3 level or higher qualification.

Entry requirements

To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at

What you will learn

  • You'll work with whole numbers, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • You'll handle money calculations and understand simple budgets.
  • You'll read and interpret straightforward charts, tables, and graphs.
  • You'll use fractions and percentages in everyday contexts.

  • You'll solve practical maths problems you might meet at work or in daily life.

How you will learn

Classes are classroom based and run in the evening over 10 weeks. You'll work through activities and exercises with a tutor and other learners. Assessment is portfolio based rather than by exam, so you demonstrate your skills through the work you complete during the course.
