About this course

Free Entry Level 3 Maths Course in Catterick Garrison. Classes run at Catterick Library & Information Centre, part-time during the day over 10 weeks. This is a no-exam maths qualification, so you're assessed through coursework rather than a timed test. You'll build practical number skills and earn a recognised maths certificate at the end. To be eligible, you must be 19 or over and not currently hold an Entry Level 3 or higher maths qualification. You'll have an initial assessment to confirm this is the right level for you.

This course is for people who want to improve their Maths skills and gain a qualification in Maths without having to take an exam.You must not have a current Entry 3 level or higher qualification.

Entry requirements

To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at

  • You'll work with whole numbers, including counting, ordering, and simple calculations.
  • You'll add, subtract, multiply, and divide using everyday contexts.
  • You'll handle money, including working out costs and giving change.
  • You'll read and interpret simple charts, tables, and graphs.
  • You'll measure length, weight, capacity, and time.
  • You'll solve straightforward number problems in practical situations.

How you will learn

You'll learn through classroom sessions at Catterick Library & Information Centre. Assessment is through coursework and portfolio evidence rather than a formal exam. There is no timed written test for this qualification. Your tutor will guide you through tasks and activities that show what you can do.
