Free Entry Level 2 English Course in Selby. Evening english classes run at Selby Adult Learning and Skills Service, so you can fit study around your week. The course covers reading, writing, speaking, and listening at Entry Level 2. It runs over 55 hours part-time. Assessment is portfolio-based, so there is no exam to sit. Who this course is for

This course is for people who want to improve their English skills gain a qualification in English without having to take an exam.You must not have a current Entry 2 level or higher qualification.

Entry requirements

To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment

  • You'll write simple sentences and short texts clearly and accurately.
  • You'll spell common everyday words correctly.
  • You'll use basic punctuation and grammar in your writing.
  • You'll listen and respond to spoken information in everyday situations.
  • You'll speak clearly to communicate information and ask questions.

How you will learn

Classes are classroom based and run in the evening. You'll build a portfolio of work throughout the course, showing what you can do in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. There is no formal written exam. Your tutor will assess your work as you go, using tasks and activities completed during sessions.
