Entry requirements

To be eligible for funding for courses you must be over 19 years of age as at 31st August in the current academic year and not be an apprentice, further eligibility may be linked to where you live and we will check that at enrolment stage and may contact

What you will learn

  • You'll recognise and use whole numbers in everyday situations.
  • You'll add and subtract simple numbers.
  • You'll understand basic measures such as length, weight, and time.
  • You'll handle money and work out simple totals.
  • You'll read and interpret straightforward number information.
  • You'll begin to solve simple practical maths problems.

How you will learn

You'll learn in a classroom at Selby Adult Learning and Skills Service during evening sessions. Teaching covers practical, everyday maths tasks. Assessment is through a formal test set by City and Guilds. You'll also complete tasks and activities during the course to build your skills before the final assessment.
