About this course

Free Entry Level 1 Functional Skills Maths in York. Evening classes run at Explore York Library Learning Centre, so you can fit study around work or other commitments. You'll have an initial assessment to confirm this is the right starting level for you. The course covers everyday number skills: counting, simple calculations, and using maths in practical situations. It runs over 33 weeks part-time. This entry level functional skills maths course is open to anyone in the York area who does not already hold a Level 2 or above maths qualification.

Who this course is for

This course is funded for learners in the York area. If you do not live in York or North Yorkshire, we recommend contacting your local adult education provider.

The course will suit anyone who does not already have a qualification at Level 2 (GCSE 4+) or above in Maths.

What you will learn

How you will learn

Classes are held in person at Explore York Library Learning Centre on weekday evenings. You'll work through activities and exercises in the classroom, supported by a tutor. Assessment is through a formal City and Guilds test, which you'll take when you and your tutor agree you're ready.
