Free Entry Level 1 Functional Skills English in Middlesbrough. Classes run at Biz Hub Middlesbrough, with a mix of online study and time at the centre. Entry requirements

Must meet all funding eligbility requirements, including:

  • Live in a Tees Valley Postcode
  • Not in any other form of funded training
  • Must meet all residency criteria to access funded training.

  • You'll read and understand short, simple texts on familiar topics.
  • You'll write simple sentences using basic punctuation and spelling.
  • You'll listen to and follow straightforward spoken instructions.
  • You'll take part in simple conversations and express your needs clearly.
  • You'll recognise and use common words and phrases in everyday contexts.

How you will learn

Learning is blended: you'll study online at your own pace and attend daytime sessions at Biz Hub Middlesbrough. Assessment is through tasks and activities that reflect everyday reading, writing, speaking, and listening situations. There are no formal written exams at Entry Level 1. Your progress is assessed through portfolio evidence and practical tasks set throughout the course.
