About this course

Free Entry Level 2 Functional Skills Maths in Middlesbrough. Classes run at Biz Hub Middlesbrough, with a mix of online study and time at the centre. You'll work on everyday maths skills across 15 weeks, studying at a pace that fits around your life. An initial assessment confirms this is the right level for you. We have a variety of levels available to study, starting form entry level 1, all of the way through to level 2. This allows for individuals to gain an accredited qualification in this area, to support personal development and career pathways.

Entry requirements

Must meet all funding eligbility requirements, including:

  • Age 19+ on 31/08/25
  • Live in a Tees Valley Postcode
  • Not in any other form of funded training
  • Must meet all residency criteria to access funded training.

What you will learn

  • You'll read and understand everyday written information, including signs, forms, and short texts.
  • You'll write simple sentences clearly and correctly.
  • You'll take part in straightforward conversations and follow spoken instructions.
  • You'll build confidence in using English in everyday situations at home and at work.

How you will learn

Learning is blended: you'll study online in your own time and attend daytime sessions at Biz Hub Middlesbrough. Assessment is through tasks and activities set by your tutor. There are no surprise exams. Your progress is tracked throughout the course, and your tutor will support you at each stage.
