About this course

AAT Level 2 Bookkeeping Course in Leicester. Classes run at Leicester College City Skills Centre, part-time during the day. The course runs over 18 weeks and covers manual bookkeeping systems, VAT control accounts, and digital accounting software. You'll study two units: Introduction to Bookkeeping and Principles of Bookkeeping Controls. These give you the practical skills to carry out everyday bookkeeping transactions accurately. The level 2 AAT bookkeeping qualification is well suited to daytime study alongside other commitments.

Who this course is for

Whether you�re new to bookkeeping or working in accountancy and want to formally recognise your skills, this course is ideal for you. Manual bookkeeping underpins all accountancy and finance roles. Studying this qualification will help you to develop a strong foundation of knowledge and skills in this area to work in accountancy and finance or to go on to study at university level.

Completing this qualification will enable you to confidently carry out typical bookkeeping transactions, tasks and use of accounting software.

Entry requirements

To enrol on this course you will need GCSEs at Grade 4 (C) or above in English and maths. You will also need to provide one reference which can be provided by your employer or previous education establishment. It is desirable that you can demonstrate 90% attendance.

Consideration will be given to all applicants over the age of 19, who do not hold formal English and maths qualifications.

How you will learn

You'll attend daytime classroom sessions at Leicester College City Skills Centre over 18 weeks. Learning covers both manual bookkeeping methods and digital accounting software. Assessment is through AAT examinations set by AAT. You'll sit assessments for each unit: Introduction to Bookkeeping and Principles of Bookkeeping Controls. You'll also need to register as an AAT student member, which carries a separate membership cost.

What you will need to bring

The centre will provide most materials. Leicester College City Skills Centre will confirm anything else you need before you start. Note that a material fee applies, and you will need to register for AAT student membership separately.
