This makeup artistry qualification covers the skills and knowledge needed to work professionally as a make-up artist. You'll study skin analysis, colour theory, bridal and fashion make-up, special effects, and client consultation. The course involves around 180 hours of study. Entry is normally via a Level 2 qualification in beauty therapy or make-up, or through a skills test and interview. You must be 16 or over to enrol.

You'll finish with a VTCT Diploma in Make-Up Artistry at Level 3.

Who this course is for

This qualification is designed for learners aged 16 years and over and will support you to gain employment as a make-up artist, as the units contained in the qualification cover all the skills and knowledge required for this role.

Entry requirements

Entry onto this qualification can be via previous attainment of a Level 2 qualification in beauty therapy or Make-up and/or a successful skills test and interview. You must be 16 or over to do this course via apprentice routes or 19 and over to complete this course via access to Advanced Learner Loans.

Your skills and knowledge are assessed throughout the course rather than in a single final exam.
