About this course

Level 3 Assessing Competence in the Work Environment Course in Derby. Classes run at Derby College, part-time during the day. The course runs over 18 weeks and is delivered through workshops and one-to-one tutorials on a flexible basis. You'll assess the work-based competence of students working toward their own qualifications, supporting them to gather evidence and meet the standards required. To join, you'll need a relevant qualification, current experience in your subject specialism, and access to at least two students completing a regulated work-based qualification.

Who this course is for

How you will learn

Learning is delivered through group workshops and one-to-one tutorials, scheduled flexibly to fit around your work commitments. Your assessor will visit you in your workplace every three to four weeks to observe your practice, review evidence, and provide guidance. You'll build a portfolio of evidence drawn from your day-to-day assessing work. An interview is required before you start the course.

What you will need to bring

The centre will provide most materials. Derby College will confirm anything else you need before you start. You will need access to at least two students completing a regulated work-based qualification, a countersigning assessor or mentor, and a qualified Internal Quality Assurer in your assessment area.
