About this course

Level 2 Nail Technician Course in Leeds. Classes run at The White Rose School of Beauty Leeds, daytime in a salon setting. Funding options are available and will be discussed at interview, so fees may or may not apply depending on your circumstances. You'll develop the practical knowledge and skills needed to work as a junior nail technician in a commercial salon. The course runs for 156 hours. Entry is via a previous Level 1 beauty therapy qualification and/or a skills test and interview.

Who this course is for

This qualification has been specifically designed for learners aged 16 or over, and will develop the knowledge and skills to prepare learners for employment as a junior nail technician. It is also for learners seeking to work in and develop their skills in a commercial setting and can only be delivered by colleges that have or have access to a salon and not a realistic working environment.

Entry requirements

Entry onto this qualification can be via previous attainment of a Level 1 qualification in beauty therapy and/or a successful skills test and interview.

  • You'll prepare and maintain a safe, hygienic nail services environment.
  • You'll carry out manicure and pedicure treatments on clients.
  • You'll apply and finish nail enhancements, including gel and acrylic systems.
  • You'll advise clients on nail care and aftercare.
  • You'll work to commercial standards of speed and finish.
  • You'll develop the professional skills needed in a salon setting.

How you will learn

You'll learn through hands-on practical sessions in a commercial salon environment. Assessment combines observed practical work, where an assessor watches you carry out treatments on clients, with knowledge-based assessment covering the theory behind nail services. You'll build a portfolio of evidence throughout the course to demonstrate your competence across all units.
