About this course

Level 2 Nail Technician Course in Huddersfield. Classes run at The White Rose School of Beauty Huddersfield, during the day. Funding options are discussed at interview, so fees may or may not apply depending on your circumstances. The course is designed for learners aged 16 or over and runs across 156 hours of classroom-based training in a working salon environment. You'll build the practical skills needed to work as a junior nail technician, covering treatments, client care, and professional techniques. Entry is via a previous Level 1 beauty therapy qualification and/or a skills test and interview.

Who this course is for

This qualification has been specifically designed for learners aged 16 or over, and will develop the knowledge and skills to prepare learners for employment as a junior nail technician. It is also for learners seeking to work in and develop their skills in a commercial setting and can only be delivered by colleges that have or have access to a salon and not a realistic working environment.

Entry requirements

Entry onto this qualification can be via previous attainment of a Level 1 qualification in beauty therapy and/or a successful skills test and interview.

  • You'll learn nail preparation and finishing techniques for natural nails.
  • You'll develop skills in applying nail enhancements, including tips and overlays.
  • You'll practise manicure and pedicure treatments to a commercial standard.
  • You'll learn how to consult with clients and assess nail condition.
  • You'll understand health, safety, and hygiene requirements in a salon environment.
  • You'll develop knowledge of nail products, tools, and their correct use.

How you will learn

You'll learn through practical, hands-on sessions in a salon environment. Assessment is a mix of observed practical work and knowledge-based tasks. Your assessor will observe you carrying out treatments and check your understanding of underpinning knowledge. You'll build a portfolio of evidence as you progress through the qualification.
