This course will take those who have some basic knowledge of jewellery making on to the next level. The tutor will be working through several designing and making briefs that encourage experimentation with a variety of materials. There will be exploration of different techniques in the initial stages to include metal working, soldering, stone setting, wax carving, metal casting and enamelling. After that you will be using this knowledge to construct pieces that are a combination of your experimental approaches. The focus is on pushing boundaries and expanding your understanding of materials and design. The final outcome will be a body of work including samples, finished jewellery pieces and a working journal.
Please be aware that this course is a generic qualification used to deliver this specific subject. However, it is also used to deliver other subjects and for this reason, learners who do more than one arts or crafts course at the same level may not be funded or certificated for the subsequent course(s). Cornwall Adult Education will carry out checks for each application and will contact learners if there is a funding issue.
