About this course

GCSE Maths in Hove. Classes run at BHASVIC, part-time during the day, four and a half hours a week over 35 weeks.

The course covers Foundation level maths. Topics include number, algebra, ratio, geometry, probability, and statistics. You'll need a grade 3 or below in a previous Maths GCSE to join. Assessment is three written exams, each one and a half hours long.

You'll finish with a GCSE in Mathematics.

Who this course is for

Though all students who don't have a grade 4 at Maths GCSE are required to take this subject, you will have the full support of the BHASVIC Maths department behind you. Lessons will be engaging, and will focus on getting you to where you need to be to succeed. You may even decide that you want to aim higher and strive for a 5 (or higher!), in which case we will be with you every step of the way.

  • You'll solve problems using algebra and equations.
  • You'll apply ratio and proportion to real calculations.
  • You'll study geometry, including shapes, angles, and measures.
  • You'll interpret data using statistics and probability.
  • You'll build exam technique across Foundation level content.

How you will learn

You'll attend classroom lessons at BHASVIC, covering Foundation level content across the year. Assessment is by three written exams, each lasting one and a half hours. The exams are set by Pearson Edexcel. There is no coursework component.
