About this course

Free Level 3 Plastering (Construction) Course. Work-based training at your workplace. You train while working in the plastering industry, building on your existing Level 2 NVQ in Plastering. Over 10 months, you'll develop specialist skills in applying plaster, render, and complex finishes, and learn to work safely in a supervisory role. Part of your learning takes place at Leeds College of Building North Street Campus through classroom sessions and blended learning.

Who this course is for

This qualification supports the learner to attain enabling, fundamental and transferable practical skills with associated underpinning knowledge. Students will attend college on a part time basis to develop their knowledge with a range of blended learning, team building group activities and lectures in the classroom environment.

Entry requirements

The City & Guilds Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Plastering is suitable for employed individuals who have already achieved Level 2 NVQ in Plastering and are able to demonstrate that they are working at a Level 3 standard and can meet the criteria mentioned below to complete the qualification.

What you will learn

  • You'll apply external render to complex surfaces, including scraped, textured, dash, ashlar joint, and simulated stone finishes.
  • You'll apply solid plaster to complex surfaces such as round or arched windows, columns, attached piers, beams, and inclined ceilings and walls.
  • You'll produce and install complex plasterwork to a specialist standard.
  • You'll work safely on site and in a supervisory capacity as part of a team.
  • You'll develop the underpinning knowledge behind specialist plastering techniques.
  • You'll collect and present workplace evidence using a digital platform.

How you will learn

This is a work-based qualification. You gather evidence of your plastering work on site and upload it to a digital platform. You also attend Leeds College of Building North Street Campus part-time for classroom sessions, group activities, and lectures. Your employer's work must meet specific criteria, including complex render and plasterwork, so that you can generate the evidence required to complete the qualification.

What you will need to bring

The centre will provide most materials. Leeds College of Building North Street Campus will confirm anything else you need before you start.
