About this course

Free Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work course in Leicester. Classes run at Leicester College City Skills Centre, with daytime sessions that fit around other commitments. This emergency first aid at work qualification covers how to respond to a range of first aid emergencies in the workplace, from managing an unresponsive casualty to treating wounds and dealing with shock. The course runs over 6 weeks part-time. Employers across most sectors expect at least one trained first aider on site, so this level 3 emergency first aid at work certificate is a practical addition to any CV.

Who this course is for

This six week programme will fast track you into a new career to help you gain the award needed to for working as a door supervisor within the private security industry. Award level 2.

Once you have gained this award, you can then go on to register as a Door Supervisor and purchase your SIA badge and license, a legal requirement to work in security.

The programme includes a wide range of learning opportunities that support you by achieving nationally recognised qualifications including health and safety, equality and diversity, conflict resolution as well as employability and interview skills to support your future career.

This is an amazing opportunity if you want to update your skills and qualifications to support your applications when seeking employment. It is offered at regular intervals during 50 weeks of the year, including non-term times (closed two weeks at Christmas).

You will need to be committed to complete the whole six weeks, Monday � Friday (9am � 4pm).

Entry requirements

To enrol onto this course you must be aged 19+, have achieved a minimum English level 1 or above with good all-round reading, writing, speaking and listening skills, be able to provide a minimum of two forms of ID and be able to actively take part in various physical skills to protect yourself and others from harm.

Upon successful completion of the course, you will be support with your SIA license application. This will enclude enhanced background checks as part of your SIA License application.

  • You'll learn how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED)
  • You'll learn how to treat wounds, bleeding, and shock

  • You'll learn how to manage choking in an adult
  • You'll learn how to record and report first aid incidents in the workplace

How you will learn

Learning takes place in the classroom at Leicester College City Skills Centre. You'll take part in practical demonstrations and hands-on skills practice, covering real emergency scenarios. Assessment is through a practical skills assessment and a short knowledge test. You need to demonstrate competence in the core first aid techniques to pass.
