About this course

BTEC National Diploma in Creative Media Practice in Nottingham. Classes run at Nottingham College City Hub, full-time over two years. Students aged 16 to 18 years old do not pay tuition fees. If you are 19 or over, fees may apply, though funding may still be available.

The course covers graphic design and branding, digital illustration, 2D animation, motion graphics, and concept art. You will work with industry-standard Adobe software including Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects. You will also develop design principles and critical thinking skills, and have the chance to work with real clients.

You will finish with a Pearson Edexcel Level 3 National Diploma in Creative Media Practice.

Who this course is for

This course is perfect if you’re looking for a career in graphic design and/or animation within the digital design industry.

This course is equivalent to 3 A-levels and is a great route into University level Creative Media courses.

Entry requirements

You’ll need 5 GCSEs at grades 9 - 4 (A* - C), including English Language and Maths - both of these must be grades 9 - 4 (A* - C) or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths, or a relevant Level 2 vocational qualification with English and Maths GCSE grades 9 - 4 (A* - C). You will also need a portfolio or showreel of work.

How you will learn

You will learn through practical, hands-on studio sessions in the classroom. The course uses project-based assignments and a portfolio of work to assess your progress. In Year 1 you complete 90 credits and earn a standalone qualification. In Year 2 you build on that to complete the full Diploma. You will have access to professional equipment including graphics tablets.
